Wildwood Field School integrates authentic Montessori education and philosophy with daily work and play outdoors. Our mission is to nurture student independence and instill community values including: respect for others, stewardship of the natural world, and responsibility for one’s self.

Our program ensures that, in addition to academic learning, children also have time to play, explore, collaborate, and invent, which are all essential to healthy development. Our environment is designed to cultivate curiosity, encourage exploration, and nurture each child’s practical, social, and intellectual independence.

Wildwood Field School offers 3- and 5- day enrollment options.

Montessori Education

“The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our aim therefore is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorise, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his inmost core.”

- Maria Montessori, To Educate the Human Potential

“It is not enough to provide material for the child to work in school. He demands to go out into the world.”
