Fostering independence, honoring individual needs, and providing direct experience outdoors.

At Wildwood Field School, we make sure that in addition to academic learning, children also have time to play, explore, collaborate, and invent, which are all essential to healthy development. Our environment is designed to nurture children’s natural curiosity, encourage independent exploration, and support each child’s growth and learning.

Our program integrates authentic Montessori curriculum and philosophy with daily work and play outdoors. Our mission is to instill values including community, respect for others, reverence for the natural world, and responsibility for one’s self.

Wildwood Field School offers 3- and 4- day programs to allow families a healthy school-life balance.

Montessori Education

“The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our aim therefore is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorise, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his inmost core.”

- Maria Montessori, To Educate the Human Potential

Work & Play Outdoors

“Nature inspires creativity in a child by demanding visualization and the full use of the senses.”

― Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder

Preparation for Life

“The child gives us a beautiful lesson – that in order to form and maintain our intelligence, we must use our hands.

-Maria Montessori

“It is not enough to provide material for the child to work in school. He demands to go out into the world.”

— Maria Montessori, Citizen of the World
